OUR HISTORY

  • 1960

François DUBOURG, a farm worker, alongside his wife Germaine, bought a one-hectare plot of vines in the commune of Rauzan, forty kilometers southeast of Bordeaux, near the prestigious Saint-Émilion vineyard. Curious by nature and with a developed business sense, he discovered the opportunity that would be represented by the collection and recovery of wine metal waste abandoned by the owners. Equipped with a bicycle and a cart, he traveled around the commune and collected his first pieces of wire.

  • 1965

François bought his first tow truck, which allowed him to expand his scope of action to the collection of damaged and end-of-life vehicles. He began to develop a vehicle storage and dismantling business on a developed site.

He then recruited his first worker who helped him dismantle parts.

From there, the eponymous company François Récupération was born, one of the very first French companies specializing in automobile recycling, formerly called “Casses automobiles”.

  • 1976

Construction of a first spare parts storage building, called a store. It allows the structured organization of the trade in spare parts for private and professional customers.

Dominique DUBOURG came to work alongside his father at the age of 17. In accordance with François' wish for him to discover all the company's work positions, Dominique began his career as a laborer, then successively occupied the positions of driver, dismantler, and salesman.

In his free time, on Sundays, he accompanies his father to attend autocross races organized in the region, with competition vehicles driven by the company's customers.

  • 1978

Dominique, who was passionate about the sport, made his debut as a driver in a buggy that his father had built for him, satisfied with his involvement in the business.

Dominique changed disciplines. In 1984 and 1985, he took part in circuit races, in the French Formula Ford Trophy.

Patricia DUBOURG joined her father and brother in the company. She held a position as secretary. She also learned the ropes of the job before becoming Head of the Administrative Department.

The 2nd DUBOURG generation is in place, to the great joy of their father.

  • 1990

Dominique is crowned European Autocross Champion. He is the first French driver to be crowned champion in this discipline. He also wins the European Nations Cup of Autocross with the French FFSA Team (French Automobile Sports Federation).

Taking on more and more responsibilities in the company, he chose, the same year, to put an end to his "career" as a pilot.

  • 1998

François hands over to his children, Dominique and Patricia. Together they create the Société Anonyme DUBOURG AUTOMOBILES.

20 employees then work alongside them.

In the 2000s, the automobile recycling business became more professional, more structured and became a recognized profession.

  • 2007

A new store for the sale of parts to professionals and individuals is being built and the parts storage space is being expanded.

At the same time, the company is deploying a unique industrial concept in France, with an automated dismantling line, and is implementing computerized tracking of spare parts.

It was at this time that Jean-Baptiste DUBOURG joined his aunt and his father, Dominique, in the management of the company which then employed 40 people.

  • 2011

A building with a surface area of 1,000 m2 is built specifically for parts intended for export.

OUR COMMITMENTS

The DUBOURG Group, a family business, has made strong commitments in terms of social and environmental responsibility since the beginning of its existence and has made the ecological and energy transition its priority.

Integration into the Coq Vert

Keen to act even more effectively, we have joined the Coq Vert community, launched by Bpifrance in partnership with ADEME and the Ministry of Ecological Transition.

This community aims to promote the sharing of expertise in terms of ecological and energy transition between the 2,300 committed entrepreneurs who make it up. We thus benefit from new content and resources to accelerate our transition and participate in events in order to commit together to the climate.

This also allows us to promote our actions and, why not, inspire other entrepreneurs.

A strong CSR approach

In 2023, DUBOURG AUTOMOBILES obtained the EcoVadis bronze medal, with the following scores:

EcoValdis Scores

This medal rewards the work of our teams and confirms the performances achieved in environmental, social and societal matters.

Environmental protection is a strong commitment of the DUBOURG Group. It is the priority and daily concern of our teams.

The second life that we offer to parts from end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) is perfectly in line with global environmental and economic policy. This circular economy aims to:

  • to reduce the carbon footprint generated by the use of new parts manufactured in the four corners of the Planet,
  • to limit waste,
  • to make reused parts accessible to a wider range of consumers,

In addition, our companies DUBOURG AUTOMOBILES and BTVA successfully recycle materials extracted from end-of-life vehicles with a reuse rate of up to 100 % for tires.

In addition, our sites in Rauzan (33) and Petit-Palais-et-Cornemps (33) also operate in an eco-responsible manner, with:

  • Waterproofed floors in vehicle storage areas awaiting treatment (geomembrane) to prevent pollution of subsoils,
  • Plant barriers, plant walls and flower beds,
  • Specific devices for the treatment of runoff water,
  • Secure containers that meet the standards required to store fluids or so-called polluting materials,
  • Electric lifting equipment inside the premises,
  • Dematerialized administrative files.

For the collection of vehicles, we ensure to reduce our impact on the environment. 10 platforms dedicated to the grouping of vehicles before transport to one of the two ELV treatment centers of the Group, have been created and strategically distributed over a large quarter of South-West France, which has the effect of optimizing our geographical network and limiting our carbon footprint.

Our DA Racing team participated from 2007 to 2024 in the biggest ice race in the world, the Trophée Andros, a French championship created in 1990, which became the e-Trophée Andros in 2019, from which date it only welcomed 100 % electric vehicles. This transition of the race was perfectly in line with the values of our Group, since we study the impact that each of our actions has on ecology and make the resulting decisions to reduce our carbon footprint as much as possible.

In order to further reduce the impact of our activities, we have been participating since October 2023, in partnership with the DREAL Nouvelle Aquitaine, in the Call for Expressions of Interest (AMI) for support to facilitate the voluntary production of our greenhouse gas emissions assessment. Once this assessment has been carried out, it will allow us to identify our activities and processes producing the most emissions, and therefore the priority levers for action to reduce them.

Our 120 employees are at the heart of our success. We ensure their safety, well-being, development and growth.

Equipped with the mandatory personal protective equipment, they are made aware of the risks in the sector. Training is regularly offered to them, in order to meet the standards in force, to enable them to improve their skills and evolve within the Group, and thus best support the growth of the company. Social mobility is a value carried by the leaders of the DUBOURG Group from generation to generation.

Our medium-term objective: to have a well-defined base of team leaders, with the deployment of performance indicators to manage the Group with confidence and ensure its sustainability.

At the same time, as a reward for their investment, we increase our employees' salaries every year. On average, salaries in our Group are 30% higher than the minimum imposed by the national collective agreement. The average seniority recorded is 10 years.

Finally, we attach great importance to the social conditions of our employees. As much as possible, when we think Company, we think Employees. An example: during the renegotiation of company energy contracts, each employee had the opportunity to have their individual contract studied by our energy broker and thus gain purchasing power.

Customer satisfaction remains at the heart of our concerns. We make sure to offer them quality parts and services. In all of the Group's activities, our employees always have the same approach: respect, listening and seeking the best choice at the best price.

Our 2 recycling centers, DUBOURG AUTOMOBILES and BTVA, have chosen the QUALICERT service certification, recognized by insurance companies, automobile manufacturers and French and European legislation, whose standard "Treatment and recovery of end-of-life vehicles and their components" helps to preserve the environment and offer the best quality of services to their customers.

A qualitative and rigorous selection of the reused parts offered for sale is systematically made, according to a quality process based on 5 control points carried out by the various successive operators: during the appraisal, dismantling, cleaning, engraving and photography, packaging and shelving, and finally during the sale.

In addition to our activity, for several years now, we have been offering, in certain cases, new parts for sale (peripheral accessories and mandatory ingredients when replacing mechanical parts but also when the reused part is not available).

Always in order to satisfy our customers, the company Dubourg Montage et Services was created in order to meet the demand of some, who wished to have their new or reused parts fitted. Our company also offers maintenance, repairs of all types, as well as preparation for the technical inspection of all light vehicles/commercial vehicles.

Finally, with a fleet of 16 car transporters and a transport capacity of 110 cars per day, DUBOURG LOGISTIC, specializing in the road transport of damaged vehicles and used vehicles, meets the needs of its customers for the removal of long and medium distance vehicles.

In addition to the jobs created in local communities, the training and professional development that we offer to our employees which strengthen the skills of the local workforce, our Group is more broadly committed at the regional level.

We have created partnerships with secondary and higher education establishments in order to participate in study projects, to host students on internships or to provide damaged vehicles to train future experts and mechanics.

We also support the community sector as well as the voluntary and solidarity initiatives of our employees.

Recently, 39 employees participated, under the colors of the DUBOURG Group, in the corporate challenge on Les Vin Km de Saint Emilion, a foot race organized by Rotary for the benefit of research into brain diseases: a wonderful opportunity to participate in a great cause, while strengthening our team spirit.
